Marine Radio SRC better known as Marine VHF. (Very High Frequency)

The syllabus covers the use of a marine radio including GMDSS. Routine, distress and urgency procedures are covered. The SRC online course comprises a number of modules and the completion time is dependent on the student. But equates gernerally to a 1 day course. In addition to the course fee of £110, a Certificate Issue fee of £60 is charged by the RYA. The course pack includes the VHF Handbook. GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) became fully operational in 1999. This latest development in marine communications adds a new feature to the long-established VHF radio with the introduction of Digital Selective Calling (DSC). This online course is designed for people wishing to obtain the Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of Competence in their own time. A Short Range Certificate (SRC) is required in order to operate the VHF equipment legally.


Cost: £110 (online course) + £60 paid to the RYA for the certificate. (The £60 is required to be paid to the RYA before commencement of the course.

Next assessment is 23rd November 2019 and after that 21st March 2020.
