The York Cruiser Training Centre (YCTC) is passionate about promoting boating activities in a safe and responsible way. Second to that, it's our hobby and we think it should be enjoyable and rewarding too.
Promoting boating when you are 45 miles from the sea might feel strange, but York has many clubs operating on the river and lakes; we also have access to fantastic harbours up and down the country for people who prefer deeper water. More recently, YCTC has been using its resources to represent all forms of boating and watersports activities in the area.
We welcome everyone from total novices to world champion racers, and enhance your boating experiences by:
- Offering local training courses with a human instructor.
- Providing regular networking events with like-minded individuals.
- Arranging trips and visits with local marine organisations and persons of interest.
- Forming a link between boat owners and crew.
- Arranging trips further afield.
We are an RYA-affiliated training centre, and as such, the training we provide is to the highest standard. All of our courses will result in an RYA certificate for students who successfully complete the courses and assessments.
We hold social meetings monthly, often with a guest speaker. These are ideal times to interact with more experienced members and to make friends.
You will find that we are very open and receptive to new members. We were all new once - and at £10 per annum, our membership fee could well be the best investment you make in your boating career.
